Shortcuts & the command palette
Every window, app and view action in Mnemosyne has a name you can type and a key you can press. Two ways into the same list.
Ctrl+K
Ctrl+K drops a search field in the middle of the screen. Type a few letters, the list narrows, arrows move, Enter runs. Esc or a click outside closes it, and Ctrl+K again closes it too.
What you see in each row: the icon, the name, a green dot when that widget is already open, and the key combination bound to it. So the palette is also where you learn your own shortcuts, one use at a time.
It searches names of widgets, apps and actions. To search inside your memory, talk to the chat: that is memory recall, a different engine entirely.

The four view actions speak to the plane, so they need an unlocked canvas to do anything.

Six entries ship unbound on purpose, so there are keys left for the ones you actually reach for. Pick them yourself below.
A widget key is a toggle: press it once to open the widget, again to put it away.
Remapping
- Click the shortcut
The button turns into Press keys… and a banner confirms it is listening.
- Press the combination you want
It is recorded as you press it, and running the action at the same time is prevented while recording.
- Or clear it
Backspace (or Delete) empties the row, which then reads Not set. Esc cancels and leaves the old key alone.
Reset to defaults, at the top of the page, puts the whole table back to the factory list. Your bindings are stored on this machine and take effect immediately, without a restart.
The modifier rule
Every shortcut carries Ctrl, Alt or Cmd. Press G alone during a recording and the app keeps waiting: Shift by itself is refused too, since Shift+G is just a capital G.
That rule is the reason the shortcuts stay out of your way. A plain letter can never be a command, so your keys keep reaching the field you are typing in, and a shortcut still fires while your cursor sits in a text box.
Two details worth knowing
- Conflicts are shown, and allowed. Give the same combination to two actions and both rows get a ⚠. The app lets you do it, and the one higher in the list is the one that runs.
- Inside a cartridge, the keyboard belongs to the cartridge window. Click the plane first, then your shortcut.
On macOS the same bindings are drawn as glyphs (⌃K rather than Ctrl + K). The factory list is built on Ctrl everywhere, and Cmd combinations are yours to record.
