Settings → Shortcuts
Every key combination that launches a widget, an app or an action is listed and remapped here. The rail entry is Shortcuts; the page title reads Keyboard shortcuts and its subtitle Launch widgets, apps and actions from the keyboard. Click a shortcut to remap it.
Bindings are saved on your machine as soon as you set them. There is no Save button. What the shortcuts do once bound is described on the Shortcuts widget page; this page is about the settings.
Remapping a shortcut
- Click the shortcut
Click the button that shows the current combination next to an action. It turns violet and reads Press keys…. A banner above the list explains the rules: Press the new key combination. Esc cancels · Backspace clears.
- Press the new combination
Hold a modifier and press a key. The combination must include Ctrl, Alt or the Cmd/Windows key; a bare key is refused so that a shortcut can never block typing. On macOS the combination is displayed with the ⌃⌥⇧⌘ glyphs.
- Or clear it
Press Backspace or Delete while recording to unbind the action. The button then reads Not set. Esc leaves the previous binding as it was.
When the same combination is assigned to more than one action, each of them shows a ⚠ with an orange border. The tooltip reads This shortcut is assigned to more than one action. Fix it by remapping one of the two.
Reset to defaults
The button Reset to defaults in the page header restores every factory binding of both groups at once.
The reset applies immediately, with no confirmation box. Every custom binding is lost in one click.
Actions
The first group is titled Actions. Its default bindings:

Two things worth knowing about these defaults:
- Zoom in and Zoom out deliberately take over Ctrl+= and Ctrl+-, which a browser would use to scale the interface. Here they zoom the canvas plane, not the UI.
- The desktop combinations are the operating system's own minus the Windows key, which the compositor keeps for itself.
Widgets & apps
The second group is titled Widgets & apps. Its rows are named after the dock entries, and the app shows those names in English whatever your language:

Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+8 are stable assignments. Reordering the dock does not move them; only this page does.
The line at the bottom
Shortcuts use a modifier (Ctrl/Alt) so they never interfere with typing. That is also why the recorder refuses a bare key.
The ⟳ Reset all action on Appearance leaves your shortcuts untouched. Only Reset to defaults on this page changes them.
