Settings → Profile

The first entry of the rail, and the page Settings opens on. The rail entry is Profile; the page subtitle reads How Mnemosyne OS knows you. These settings personalize the AI experience.

This page is short on purpose. It holds the two names the AI uses in every conversation, and shows what onboarding recorded about you. It is a temporary implementation: the app's own code says it will be replaced by a fuller user/AI profile system in a later version.

Unlike Voice or Appearance, this page does not save as you type. It has a Save button, and nothing is written until you press it.

Your name​

Your name is a text field with the placeholder Your name or nickname…. The hint under it says what it is for: The AI uses this to address you personally in conversations.

  • Up to 40 characters. Leading and trailing spaces are removed when saving.
  • The default is the name you gave during onboarding. If you never gave one, the field is empty.
  • Clearing the field and saving removes the name entirely: the AI then has no name to address you by.

AI name​

AI name is a text field whose placeholder reads Mnemosyne (the app shows this placeholder in English in every language). The hint reads The name of your Mnemosyne OS AI instance.

  • Up to 30 characters, trimmed on save.
  • The default is the AI name from your profile, or Mnemosyne when none was set.
  • Clearing the field and saving falls back to Mnemosyne. There is no way to give the AI an empty name.
An editable field

A comment left in the app's source still describes the AI name as read-only. The page as shipped renders an editable field and saves it. Trust the field, not the comment.

Save​

Save writes both names to your profile. It is dimmed until you have changed at least one of the two fields. While the write runs the button shows … (in every language), then reads ✓ Saved for two seconds before returning to Save.

The profile lives on your machine, in the app's own data. Nothing on this page is sent anywhere.

Identity roles​

Identity roles appears only when your profile holds at least one role. Roles are the answers you gave during onboarding, listed as read-only chips numbered 1., 2. and so on, in the order they were recorded.

They cannot be edited here. To change them, go back through the setup wizard from the Reset page (the soft Return to setup… action, which keeps every vault, memory and note).

Creation date​

If your profile records when it was created, a single line at the bottom reads Profile created on {date}, with the date written out in the format of your system language (long month name).

No gate, licence or restart applies to anything on this page.
